Dental Bridges - A Quick Way to Replace Missing Teeth

Dental bridge also known as a fixed removable denture, is made to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges can be supported in any of three ways:

- By natural teeth
- By implants
- By a combination of teeth and implants

Bridges can:

- Restore your smile
- Restore your ability to properly chew and speak
- Maintain the shape of your face
- Distribute the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position

There are three main types of dental bridges:

Made of porcelain or porcelain fused to metal, these prosthetics are fixed and unlike removable partial dentures you cannot take them out of your mouth.

Cantilever bridge is also set into place by being bonded to an adjacent tooth, similar to the fixed bridge. A cantilever bridge however is only bonded to a single tooth. It's mainly used when there aren't teeth on both sides of the gapped area.

Also called a resin-bonded bridge, this bridge is primarily used for your front teeth. It is a good choice when the abutment teeth are healthy, strong and don't have large fillings.
